Travel tips

  1. Drive more carefully in winter. The Estonian Transport Administration says winter roads may not give summer driving conditions, braking distance at 90 km/h is at least 60 metres even on the best-maintained roads, and it is wise to avoid overtaking.
  2. Buy ferry tickets to Saaremaa online in advance. Visit Saaremaa recommends this to avoid waits.
  3. Keep to existing trails and campfire sites in nature areas, as the State Forest Management Centre asks.
  4. Book a taxi through an app or take one with TAKSO signage. GOV.UK says unmarked taxis are illegal and names Bolt, Forus and Uber as taxi apps.
