Before you go

  • Albania’s Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs says nationals of countries that may enter the Schengen area without a visa can enter Albania visa-free. If your nationality is not in its visa table, you need a visa before you travel.
  • If you don’t need a visa, your passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your departure date and have been issued within the previous 10 years, the Ministry says.

Travel tips

  1. Rent jet skis and boats only through a licensed water sports centre, and complete the paperwork before you start. GOV.UK says equipment rented along the coast may lack adequate safety precautions.
  2. Drive defensively and stay put after a collision, even a minor one. GOV.UK says to remain at the scene until the police arrive, because leaving can lead to charges and a fine.
  3. Expect poor road surfaces in rural areas and take extra care at night. GOV.UK says to watch for unmarked roadworks, potholes and vehicles without lights.
  4. Take sensible precautions against pickpockets in tourist areas, on buses and trains, and at transport hubs, as GOV.UK advises.
