Motorway vignettes: buy only from the official shop

These 8 countries in central and eastern Europe charge a fee for a period of time, called a vignette, to drive on their main roads. Each one sells it online at a fixed price. Search ads often lead to resellers that charge more, and each country's road operator or transport ministry warns about unofficial sites.

Shops and prices checked against each operator's own pages on . Prices change; the official shop always has the current price.

Before you pay

  1. Type the address, don't click an ad. ASFINAG and DARS both say unofficial sellers buy ads to appear at the top of search results. Use the links below or the operator's app.
  2. Compare the price with the official one below. As Bulgaria's toll administration puts it, any higher price is a fee charged by the seller.
  3. Check your plate and country. Digital vignettes are tied to the number plate. In Slovenia and Bulgaria, a wrong plate counts as not paying.
  4. Buy before you drive on a toll road. For foreign cars, only Slovakia (the same day) and Hungary (within 60 minutes, after a genuine mistake) allow a late purchase.

Official shops by country

Austria

Official shop ASFINAG toll shop

Who needs it
Cars, motorbikes and camper vans up to 3.5 tonnes on motorways and expressways. A few tunnels and passes, such as the Brenner and Arlberg, charge a separate section toll instead. ASFINAG
Prices
Car: 1 day €9.60 · 10 days €12.80 · 2 months €32.00 · year €106.80
Watch for
  • Two-month and annual vignettes bought online are valid from the 18th day after purchase at the earliest, because of the right to withdraw. The 1-day and 10-day ones can be used at once.
  • 2026 is the last year of the sticker; from 2027 there is only the digital vignette.
  • The same shop sells Slovenia's e-vignette.
Resellers
ASFINAG warns of fake webshops and “non-authorised providers who offer vignettes at highly inflated rates or charge additional fees”, and says they buy ads to appear high in search results.

Bulgaria

Official shop BG TOLL shop (National Toll Administration)

  • The operator does not refund errors made by third-party sellers. Terms
Resellers
The National Toll Administration has found resellers charging nearly double and says “any higher price signifies additional fees charged by the merchant”. It names evignet24.eu, tollvignettes.com, vignet.online, vignette.id and vintrica.com.

Resellers
The Ministry of Transport lists about 80 fraudulent and unofficial e-shops (in Czech), many with lookalike names such as edalnice-gov.cz.

Hungary

Official shop e-vignette shop (Hungarian Public Roads, toll division)

Watch for
  • The “weekly” vignette lasts 10 days.
  • A county vignette covers the motorway only as far as the first junction in the next county. FAQ

The operator warns that some platforms resell the e-vignette at a higher price, through an unfavourable exchange rate and, in some cases, a monthly membership fee.

Romania

Slovakia

Watch for
  • The vignette is tied to your plate, so check it and the country before you pay.

Slovenia

Official shop DARS e-vinjeta

Who needs it
Vehicles up to 3,500 kg on motorways and expressways. A few reclassified sections are free. DARS
Prices
Car (class 2A): week €16.00 · month €32.00 · year €117.50; vehicles 1.3 m or more high at the front axle (class 2B) pay about double
Watch for
  • The weekly vignette lasts 7 days, and the annual one runs a year from the start date, not to the end of the calendar year.
  • Choose a start date up to 30 days ahead, and buy before you enter the motorway.
  • Coming from Austria through the Karawanken tunnel, the A2 as far as the Hrušica junction is paid with the tunnel toll, not the e-vignette.
Resellers
DARS warns that unauthorised sellers charge commissions “often amounting to several tens of percent” and have changed the plate on a vignette without the buyer knowing. The only authorised online sellers are DARS, the ASFINAG shop, ADAC and Petrol.

Switzerland

Official shop Via (Federal Office for Customs and Border Security)

Who needs it
Motor vehicles and trailers up to 3.5 tonnes on national motorways. Trailers need their own vignette, except behind a motorbike. FOCBS

One vignette only: CHF 40. The 2026 vignette is valid from 1 December 2025 to 31 January 2027. There is no short-stay vignette. FOCBS
Watch for
  • It is valid at once, with no right to withdraw, and refunded only for a double purchase. A typo in a foreign plate can be corrected once, within 24 hours.
Resellers
The customs office warns of fake e-vignette websites and says it charges exactly CHF 40.

Prices are for a standard car and include VAT where the operator says so. Some other European countries charge tolls per journey instead; see the country pages for France, Portugal and Norway.
